Bookings open for 2nd-gen Mercedes-Benz GLA in India

Mercedes-Benz has commenced bookings on the 2nd generation Mercedes-Benz GLA in the Indian market. The SUV comes with a host of exterior and interior features along with a shorter overall length but longer wheelbase. The 2nd generation GLA made its debut in the Indian market at the 15th edition of the Auto Expo 2020.

Design & Styling

The Mercedes-Benz GLA is the smallest SUV in the German brand’s portfolio. The car come with a chrome-studded radiator grille and a large three-pointed star in the centre. The features a wing-like front apron with black applique and satin silver skid plate. The GLA comes with sleek multibeam LED headlamps and LED taillamps with new light signatures. The car also features a black finish roof with black finish roofrails.

Interiors

The Mercedes-Benz GLA comes with a twin-screen MBUX system that offers a large instruments screen and a touchscreen system. The latest generation touchscreen system comes with connectivity features and telematics. The GLA features a slightly upright cabin reinforcing the car’s SUV status. The cabin features a wide central tunnel with a touchpad that controls the infotainment screen. The GLA also comes with turbine-style air-condition vents with ambient lighting integration.

Powertrain

The brand has not revealed details about the powertrains they are going to offer in the Indian market. But speculations are the Mercedes-Benz GLA will come with a 1.3-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. This engine also does duty on the recently launched Mercedes-Benz A-Class. The motor produces 163 Hp of power and 250 Nm of torque. Another option could be a 2.0-litre four-cylinder oil-motor producing 190 Hp of power and 400 Nm of torque. While the GLA will primarily come with a front-wheel-drive architecture, the AMG performance variant could feature a 4Matic four-wheel-drive system. The Mercedes-Benz GLA features the MFA (Modular Front Architecture) and measures 4410 mm in length, 2020 mm in width, 1611 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2729 mm.
