JSW MG Motor India has announced that bookings for the much-anticipated MG Windsor EV will commence on October 3, 2024. This marks a significant milestone for the company as it introduces its third electric vehicle in the Indian market, following the success of the Comet EV and ZS EV.
The MG Windsor EV is set to be available in three variants: Excite, Exclusive, and Essence. The ex-showroom prices for these variants start at INR 13.50 lakh and go up to INR 15.50 lakh. Additionally, MG offers a unique Battery as a Service (BaaS) program, which allows customers to purchase the vehicle at a lower upfront cost of INR 9.99 lakh, with a battery rental fee of INR 3.50 per kilometer.
The Windsor EV is equipped with a 38 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, delivering a range of 331 kilometers on a single charge. The electric motor generates 134 bhp of peak power and 200 Nm of maximum torque, powering the front wheels. Charging options include a standard 3.3 kW charger, which takes 15 hours for a full charge, and a 7.4 kW charger that reduces the charging time by half. A DC fast charger can replenish the battery from 0 to 80% in under an hour.
Inside, the Windsor EV boasts a 15.6-inch infotainment display, which includes features like a 360-degree parking camera, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and various vehicle controls. The first owners will benefit from a lifetime battery warranty, one year of free public charging, and an assured 60% buyback after three years or 45,000 kilometers.
Customers can book the MG Windsor EV starting at 7:30 AM on October 3, 2024, by paying a booking amount of INR 11,000 either online or at their nearest MG dealership. Deliveries are scheduled to begin on October 12, 2024, just in time for the festive season.
The introduction of the MG Windsor EV is expected to intensify the competition in the Indian electric vehicle market, currently dominated by Tata Motors. With its competitive pricing, advanced features, and flexible battery rental program, the Windsor EV could attract a wide range of customers looking for an affordable and efficient electric vehicle.
