Audi will launch the new A3 sedan in India on 7th of August, 2014. However, assuming that the car will be an instant hit in the market, Audi will commence pre-launch bookings for the A3 sedan starting from 1st of August. Dealers will accept a booking amount of Rs. 3.5 lakh for the car.
The Audi A3 is the first Audi product to begin with local assembly prior to the launch. The car is being assembled at the Aurangabad facility since a couple of weeks. It will be powered by a 1.8L TFSI petrol engine producing 180 BHP and 250 Nm and a 2.0L TDI diesel engine producing 143 BHP and 320 Nm. Both the engines will be mated to a dual-clutch automatic transmission, but, will get 7-speed unit on the petrol and a 6-speed on the diesel. ARAI fuel efficiency figures stand at 16.6 kmpl for the petrol and 20.38 kmpl for the diesel.
The A3 sedan will fight against the Mercedes A Class and the BMW 1 series, till the Mercedes CLA sedan is launched in a couple of months.
