Luxury car manufacturer BMW is gearing up to launch its flagship SUV, the new BMW X7. It was spotted in India undisguised on a flatbed truck being transported somewhere around Pune. BMW had displayed the X7 at the Annual India Art Fair, Delhi in February 2019 and the variant it showcased was the M50d. The BMW X7 has been popping up in the form of heavily camouflaged spy pics since 2018 as it was being tested in India. The car in the pictures here is the petrol variant of the SUV which we have seen for the first time here in India.
On the exterior, the BMW X7 sports a massive grille with chrome accents and sleek BMW Laser Light headlights. The bumper houses the fog lamps and two vertically placed outer air dams. The rear tail lights are LED with a chrome element running through the width of the car.
On the inside, the BMW X7 gets an automatic 4-zone climate control, a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument console. The X7 comes with a large 3-piece glass sunroof and electrically adjustable seats on all rows and a lot more features. The X7 comes in a 7-seat and a 6-seat option and it is expected that the 7-seat standard option will be the only one to reach India.
In India, the BMW X7 is expected to come in the diesel M50d, 3-litre engine that makes 400 PS of power and 760 Nm of torque coupled to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The other diesel option will be the xDrive 30d which is a 3-litre engine producing 285 PS of power and 620 Nm of torque mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol variant xDrive 40i has a 3-litre engine that produces 340 PS of power and 450 Nm of torque coupled to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The car in the images is the petrol xDrive 40i variant of the BMW X7. BMW in the international markets sells another more powerful petrol variant of the X7, the xDrive 50i, which has a 4.4-litre engine that produces 462 PS of power and 650 Nm of torque coupled to an 8-speed transmission.
The prices in India are expected to be around the INR 1.5 crore mark. BMW plans to assemble the X7 at their Chennai facility and the first few units are expected to be CBU to fasten things up.
