2020 BMW S 1000 XR and F 900 XR teased, India launch soon

BMW Motorrad India has released a teaser video of the 2020 Model Year BMW S 1000 XR and the F 900 XR on their social media platform, leading us to believe that the brand is going to introduce the motorcycles in the Indian market soon. The 2020 BMW S 1000 XR and the BMW F 900 XR have been launched in the international market and compete with other adventure tourers such as the Ducati Multistrada and the Triumph Tiger. 

In terms of styling, both motorcycles follow the same design philosophy and feature a small beak on the front, dual split headlamps, dual-tone chopped fenders, angular nose cowling, angular tank cowling, scooped seat, upright handlebar, pillion grab rails and both the motorcycles come with equipment such as advanced LED lighting, height-adjustable touring style windscreen, luggage system attachments, colour TFT display with BMW Motorrad connectivity, keyless ride etc.

In the engine department, the S 1000 XR is powered by a 999cc in-line four-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke 4-valve DOHC motor with electronic intake pipe injection that produces 165 hp of power and 114 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed synchromesh gearbox with spur gears and self-reinforced wet multi-plate slipper clutch. 

The S 1000 XR comes with an aluminium composite bridge frame with a partially self-supporting engine that rides on 45mm electronic self-adjusting rebound/compression damping (Dynamic ESA) upside-down telescopic fork on the front and an electronic self-adjusting central spring strut shock-absorber with electronic preload adjuster mounted on the aluminium double-sided swingarm. Stopping power comes from twin 320mm discs on the front and a single 265mm disc on the rear armed with partially integral BMW Motorrad Race ABS.

The F 900 XR is powered by an 895cc parallel twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke 4-valve DOHC motor with an electronic injection system that produces 99 hp of power and 92 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox and wet multi-plate anti-hopping clutch.

The F 900 XR comes with a steel shell construction bridge-type frame that rides on 43mm upside-down telescopic fork on the front and hydraulically adjustable spring preload & rebound damping central spring strut shock absorber mounted on a double-sided aluminium swingarm. Stopping power comes from 320mm twin discs on the front and 265mm single disc brake on the rear armed with BMW Motorrad ABS.

The BMW S 1000 XR is likely to be priced around the INR 18 lakh mark and the BMW F 900 XR is expected to come with a price tag of around INR 12 lakh when launched in the Indian market.
