BMW has unveiled the new X2. The second-generation SUV now comes with an all-electric version as well, called the iX2. BMW has not revealed plans for this SUV in India.
The X2 is now bigger than before. The car is now 200 mm long, 21 mm wide and 64 mm taller. BMW has also increased the rear leg room and added an extra 115 litres of boot space.
Some of the key features of the new X2 include an expanded kidney grille, optional LED DRL rings, and active cooling flaps. According to BMW, these cooling flaps not only improve the cooling, but also the aerodynamics when closed.
Meanwhile, on the all-electric iX2, the grille is blanked off. This aids in aerodynamics and helps improve the range. The iX2 claims to have a low drag coefficient of 0.25.
The new X2 is offered with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. This is offered in the xDrive28i with 241 HP and a 0-100 km/h tome of 6.2 seconds. Meanwhile, the top end variant comes with a more powerful 2.0-litre engine that develops 312 HP. This unit has a 0-100 km/h time of 5.2 seconds.
Menwhile, the iX2 comes with a dual motor, 4WD setup. The system develops 313 HP and 494 Nm. The car can sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. The iX2 supports 130 kW DC fast charging and offers a WLTP range of 450 km on a single charge. BMW has also worked on the regenerative braking system. It now supplies upto 120 kW to the battery.
As of now, BMW has not yet announced any plans for the X2 range in India. BMW sells the X1 in India with the all-electric iX1 recently launched as well. When X2 is launched, it will rival the Audi Q3 while the iX2 will head against the Q4 e-tron.
