Recently, BMW pulled the covers off the 2022 BMW M4 Competition Coupe with M xDrive, getting ready for its market launch in July 2021. Last year we reported that BMW is working on a drop-top version of the M4 as well. Now, the German brand has unveiled the new BMW M4 Competition Convertible with M xDrive. The brand also announced that the latest BMW M4 Competition Convertible with M xDrive would go into production in July 2021
The new BMW M4 Competition Convertible with M xDrive features BMW’s classic M formula. The car offers unobstructed sunlight and wind into the hair along with BMW M’s sonorous engine sound. The drop-top comes with the capability to open or close in just 18 seconds and a speed of up to 50 km/h. This is possible due to the soft top being 40% lighter than the predecessor and its electric drive mechanism. The panel bow soft top also features the practical benefits of a retractable hardtop and the aesthetics of a fabric hood.
According to BMW, the new M4 Competition Convertible features an “emotionally engaging design with clear forms, a dynamically stretched silhouette.” The car features hallmark M performance features such as a large vertical BMW kidney grille in the M specific design. The vehicle also gets M specific gills on the sides and contoured wheel arches. The front fascia also consists of large air intakes for the engine and braking components. The BMW M4 features two pairs of tailpipes integrated with the M-specific diffuser.
The front and rear apron also feature extended side sills in black finish. The brand also offers M Carbon exterior package and BMW M Performance Parts available as options. The new BMW M4 Competition Convertible also comes with forged M light-alloy wheels measuring 19-inches at the front and 20-inches at the rear as standard.
Powering the drop-top is a 3.0-litre straight-six cylinder M TwinPower Turbo technology engine. The engine features two turbochargers and produces 510 Hp of power and 650 Nm of torque. The motor comes with an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. The drivetrain features M xDrive all-wheel-drive system and Active M Differential.
The car also gets Adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers, M Servotronic steering with a variable ratio as standard. Also, as standard are the M Compound brakes. The BMW M4 Competition Convertible also comes with a plethora of optional equipment to enhance its performance.
