BMW Motorrad reveals updated F 900 R & F 900 XR models

BMW Motorrad has revealed the updated 2025 F 900 R and F 900 XR models, featuring significant technical and visual enhancements aimed at boosting performance, safety, and rider comfort.

Performance and Powertrain

The 2025 F 900 R and F 900 XR are powered by an 895cc parallel-twin engine, now compliant with the latest Euro 5+ emission standards. This engine delivers 105 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and 93 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Both models come with a 6-speed gearbox and an updated Dynamic riding mode, which offers greater adaptability to various riding conditions.

Design and Features

The F 900 R, a dynamic roadster, has been designed with sportier ergonomics, featuring repositioned handlebars and footrests for an aggressive riding stance. The F 900 XR, an adventure sports bike, has received aerodynamic improvements with a redesigned wind deflector and new hand protectors. Both models are equipped with standard heated grips and adaptive LED headlights for enhanced visibility and comfort.

Suspension and Handling

The new models boast fully adjustable upside-down telescopic forks, which allow for fine-tuning of rebound, compression damping, and spring preload. The front wheels have been upgraded to 17-inch cast aluminum, reducing weight by approximately 1.8 kg, contributing to a total weight reduction of 3 kg. This weight reduction improves handling and overall performance.

Safety and Technology

Safety has been a primary focus in the updated models. ABS Pro and Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) come as standard, ensuring optimal braking performance in various conditions. ABS Pro offers cornering support, while DBC enhances safety during emergency braking. Additionally, both models feature Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and engine drag torque control, preventing rear wheel spin and enhancing overall stability.

Market Availability

The updated F 900 R and F 900 XR are expected to be available in global markets by mid-2025, including India. The F 900 R will be offered in colors like Snapper Rocks Blue metallic, Blackstorm metallic, and Lightwhite with Racingblue metallic for the Sport variant. The F 900 XR will come in Racing Red, Blackstorm metallic, and Lightwhite with Racingblue metallic for the Sport variant.
