BMW Motorrad reveals M1000XR hyper tourer motorcycle

BMW Motorrad has revealed the details of the M1000XR. The bike is said to be a hyper tourer and comes equipped with the 198 BHP engine from the S1000RR superbike.

BMW M1000XR : More Details

The M1000XR is an adventure-style motorbike that packs in quite a bunch of interesting features. The M variant is based on the standard S1000XR but comes with multiple tweaks and upgrades amongst others.

The M1000XR gets new downforce-inducing aero, electronically controlled Dynamic Damping Control suspension with a spring rate adjustment setting. The aero fins on the bike are quite less prominent compared to the aggressive ones on the other M models. These small elements produce 12 kg of downforce at speeds in excess of 217 km/h.

Features on the BMW M1000XR

The bike comes loaded with tech like multiple ride modes, adjustable suspension and engine settings, shift assist pro, hill hold function, ABS pro and an adjustable steering damper. The bike also gets riding aids like pit lane limiter, launch control and braking slide control amongst others.

Braking hardware consists of 320mm twin discs and a single 265mm unit at the back.

Powertrain of the BMW M1000XR

While the M1000XR gets the same engine from the S1000XR, there have been some tweaks. The unit develops 198 BHP and a peak torque of 113 Nm @ 11,000 rpm. Meanwhile, the engine has a redline of 14,600 rpm. To handle all this power, the bike comes with a 47-tooth rear sprocket.

BMW claims a 0-100 km/h time of just over 3 seconds while the top speed is in excess of 272 km/h.

Price of the BMW M1000XR

This bike is available at GBP 22,580 in the UK. It works out to be approx INR 22.77 lakh. In the international markets, the bike is quite a bit lower priced that the direct rival – Ducati Multistrada V4 RS.
