Finally, after months of leaks and spyshots, BMW Motorrad have revealed the 2019 S1000RR at the ongoing EICMA show in Milan. This is a completely new generation motorcycle, replacing the decade old S1000RR which kept getting upgrades.
The biggest change on the motorcycle is that it dumps the old asymmetrical headlamp setup. It now gets twin LED projector headlamps, new LED tail lamps, all-new body work with better aerodynamics, new TFT instrument console and a new full size exhaust.
Powering the 2019 S1000RR is a motor which is 4 kg lighter, matched to a 6-speed gearbox and has a claimed top speed electronically limited to 299 kmph. It produces 207 HP of power and 13500 RPM and 113 Nm of torque @ 11000 RPM. This is 8 hp more power than before. The bike also gets BMW SHiftCam tech, an exhaust which is lighter than 1.3 kg and electronic rider aids such as cornering ABS, riding modes, traction control, hill start, quickshifter, etc. are on offer.
The 2019 BMW S1000RR is built around a new Flex Frame which is lighter by 1.3 kg than before and the engine is a stressed member to this chassis. Suspension setup has been improved to enhance handling and you now get dynamic damping control as an optional feature.
BMW is also going to offer a ‘M Package’ on a motorcycle for the first time. This allows the 2019 S1000RR to shed 3.5 kgs more, gets BMW Motorsport livery, carbon-fibre wheels, ride height adjustment, lighter battery, and more. The all-new S1000RR is most likely to hit the Indian showrooms by mid 2019.
