BMW Motorrad has revealed the new R 1250 RT in the international market. The dynamic touring motorcycle has been upgraded with new and advanced equipment and the new BMW Shift cam technology on the Boxer engine offering a better than before ride experience. But the biggest update is the Dynamic Cruise Control as standard and the optional Adaptive Cruise Control as an option.
The new BMW R 1250 RT now comes with Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC) as standard and Active Cruise Control (ACC) – cruise control with integrated distance control an an optional extra. DCC allows the rider to set a cruise speed and the motorcycle automatically maintains that speed, even while going downhill. While going down hill, if the engine braking is not sufficient the BMW Integral Braking system is automatically activated to maintained the preselected speed. ACC is one step further and is based on radar technology and adapts to the speed of the vehicle in front making highway touring extra relaxed.
The BMW R 1250 RT has been synonyms with Touring for more than 40 years now. The motorcycle features a wide front fascia integrating a large windscreen, an aerodynamic body that helps protect the rider from wind buffeting and body mounted mirrors. The newly developed front fairing boasts to come with more aerodynamic capabilities with enhanced travel and touring qualities, new full LED headlamps with adaptive headlamp as an option. The fairing has also been reduced in height to offer the rider a better field of view making it also appear lighter and more dynamic.
The new BMW R 1250 RT features a 10.25-inch TFT colour screen with integrated map navigation and connectivity. The map integration system allows the rider to view the navigation data directly on to the instruments cluster avoiding the need of a separate screen dedicated to navigation. The R 1250 RT also comes with a splash resistant storage compartment for storing the smartphone. The smartphone can also charged using a USB connection and the compartment is ventilated by a fan.
Powering the R 1250 RT is a 1254cc BMW 2-cylinder boxer engine with BMW ShiftCam technology for varying valve timing and valve lift control on the intake side. The motor produces 136 Hp of power and 143 Nm of torque. The engine also features Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) as standard, three riding modes as standard, a new ‘Eco’ riding mode for particularly economical riding as standard, Riding Modes Pro with additional riding mode ‘Dynamic’ and new engine drag torque control (MSR) as optional, Dynamic ESA ‘Next Generation’ electronic suspension with fully automatic load compensation as optional and Hill Start Control Pro (HSC Pro) with extended function as an optional extra.
In addition to the attractive basic version in Alpine White 3, the new R 1250 RT is also available in the refined style variants Elegance, Sport and Option 719.
