BMW Motorrad plans to launch M 1000 RR superbike in India

BMW Motorrad introduced the BMW M 1000 RR motorcycle based on the S 1000 RR as the brand’s first M model which comes with a higher specification in terms of engine, mechanical parts as well as styling when compared to the standard model. Now the brand through its social media channels confirms that the M 1000 RR will be arriving in India soon. The brand is likely to bring the motorcycle via the CBU route and in limited numbers.

Powertrain

Powering the BMW M 1000 RR is a 999cc four-cylinder, liquid-cooled 4-stroke engine from the S 1000 RR but comes with new fully machined intake ports that offer a new duct geometry, BMW ShiftCam technology for varying valve control time and valve lift, new 2-ring forged pistons from Mahle that are 12 grams lighter than standard, a new combustion chamber with slimmer and 6 % lighter rocker arms, Titanium valves, optimised camshafts, lightened engine block and lighter titanium connecting rods from Pankl that reduces frictional losses. The engine makes 212 HP of power and 113 Nm of torque and comes matched to a 6-speed transmission unit with an anti-hopping clutch without reinforcement for optimum power delivery at Launch, using Launch Control. The motorcycle’s exhaust is also made from Titanium saving3.7 kg of weight.

Design, Styling & Features

The BMW M 1000 RR features the sporty S 1000 RR silhouette but also gets M winglets improving the aerodynamic quotient, M design that features a racing windscreen and sharper much edgier design language, a trimmed chassis to obtain a track-specific geometry and optimised load distribution and features such as sharp LED headlamps with LED DRL signatures, a muscular fuel tank, high-mount tail section with a racing cowl, upswept exhaust, underbraced swingarm, high-specification suspension system and brakes. The motorcycle also comes with an impressive electronics package featuring a 6.5-inch TFT instruments display with M logo animation and an On-Board Diagnostics interface, M GPS lap trigger, M GPS data logger and a plethora of safety features.

The brand will soon reveal the prices on the performance motorcycle and the M 1000 RR will come with its special M Sport paint theme.
