BMW has announced the launch of the 2023 iteration of the S 1000 RR. Prices start from INR 20.25 lakh for the Standard variant. The mid-spec Pro variant will retail with a price tag of INR INR 22.15 lakh. The range-topping Pro M Sport will retail with a starting price of INR 24.45 lakh. This makes the 2023 model approximately INR 50,000 dearer than the outgoing model, variant-for-variant.

2023 BMW S 1000 RR What Are The Changes?

With more and more flagship superbikes flooding into the market, thus closing the gap to the 220hp mark. BMW has added 3 HP more out of the S 1000 RR. Thus taking its power output up to 210 HP. Torque output stays the same, at 113 Nm. This increase in peak output figures comes courtesy of changes like new intake geometry and revised intake funnels.

The chassis has also undergone significant reworking thus allowing more lateral flex. In layman’s terms, the 2023 S 1000 RR’s frame is now less stiff compared to the outgoing model’s. Further increasing stability is the longer wheelbase. The motorcycle now stands at 1,458mm with a more relaxed 23.6-degree rake angle and a lengthened trail at 99mm. Thus adding all the changes, we expect the new model to be slightly slower when it comes to direction changes while improving stability.

Electronics Upgrades

The electronics package too sees some changes. BMW S 1000 RR motorcycle now equips with Slide Control. This allows the rear tyre to step out of line before cutting power. The ABS now gets a new Slick mode and a new Dynamic Brake Control (DBC). This ignores accidental inputs from the electronic throttle after detecting a certain level of deceleration.

New Design, New Look

However, the most noticeable change is in the design. The 2023 BMW S 1000 RR now gets winglets for the first time. The winglets here are visually very similar to the ones we saw with a race-replica BMW M 1000 RR. The tail section too gets some revision. This adds to the sleeker look and now is more aerodynamic as well.
