BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy 2022 qualifier round in Bhubaneswar

The Bhubaneswar leg of BMW International GS Trophy 2022, held from 20 to 21 November, was quite a successful event. This was a great platform for off-roading enthusiasts to showcase their skills and stand a chance to compete at an international level. This is a multi-city event, held across Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Bhubaneswar for this edition.

The riders screened in this event will qualify to compete at the Indian National Qualifier. The event was held at Helipad Ground opposite the ancient Konark Sun Temple in Puri. This is one of the most iconic destinations in Odisha that gets a healthy number of tourists from across the country. This India qualifier event takes place every two years. The challenges at this national level qualifier event are in tune with the ones held at the International GS Trophy. All BMW GS motorcycle owners from India can take a part in this qualifier.

The Road Ahead

The top three winners of the competition will finally constitute ‘Team India’. And go on to represent the country at the BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy 2022 scheduled in Albania. There the team will compete against other teams from Brazil, China, France, Germany, Japan, Latin America, Mexico, Netherlands, Russia, South Africa, South East Asia, South Korea, United Kingdom and the United States of America. BMW mentioned that the team would get full BMW Motorrad equipment along with brand-new event-specific BMW GS motorcycles. This will help the riders to perform their best and put on a great fight against the other teams.

What Is This BMW International GS Trophy?

BMW defines the GS trophy as a team competition and not a race. All the participating teams compete against each other to complete a series of challenges. And of these, all the challenges do not involve riding. Following the event’s motto, which is ‘Explore the unexpected’, the event will cover diverse flora, fauna and culture. This also provides a great interface to explore the environment and learn more about nature.
