We all knew that there will be a supersport version of the BMW Motorrad G310R for the entry-level sportsbike segment. Seems like that wait is over, at least for those who needed some visual proof. Displayed at the BMW Motorrad Days in Japan, this bike what you see here is very clearly slapped with a badge shouting out ‘G310RR’. And, the design inspiration is evident, that this is a younger sibling of the S1000RR.
Build around the same platform and engine similar to the TVS Apache RR 310, the BMW G310RR will be a sportsbike, but more comfort oriented rather than being an all-out track tool. When launched, it will rival the likes of KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 300, Yamaha YZF-R3 and the likes. However, pricing will be very expensive, considering the G310R itself retails at INR 2.9 lakh ex-showroom.
The bike we see in these images is made out of carbon fibre body / fairing. It looks like a race-spec pre-production iteration or a prototype hinting at what could be possible. Let’s expect this bike to be officially showcased at INTERMOT or EICMA later this year, if at all this motorcycle really does exist.
As for the mechanicals, expect a 313cc, single-cylinder, reverse inclined, liquid-cooled motor producing 34 PS of power and 28 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox. Hopefully, a slipper clutch will make it on this model.
Excited?
