BMW will launch the M3 sedan and the M4 coupe in India on November 26, 2014.
The M3 and M4 coupe are powered by a 2,979cc, 6-cylinder, 4-valve petrol motor producing 431 BHP of power @ 5,500 – 7,300 RPM and 550 Nm of torque @ 1,850 – 5,500 RPM. The car can achieve a top speed of 250 kmph (electronically limited) and can perform a 0-100 kmph stint in 4.3 seconds. Weighing at 1,572 kg (unladen), the BMW M4 coupe is lighter than the M3 sedan by 23 kg.
The new M3 and M4 will be the first among the M range of cars to use an electric power steering.
The cars are expected to make extensive use of carbon fibre reinforced plastic all-around the car such as roof, roof bow, trunk, front strut brace and drive shaft. This will make the car lighter than the previous generation models. Lightweight forged alloy wheels will be available as standard. The M4 is also expected to feature Active Sound Control which will provide live amplification of the engine’s sound inside the cabin via speakers.
Pricing is expected to be in the range of Rs. 50-55 lakh onwards.
