With an 11% increase, BMW Group India’s yearly auto sales reached their highest level ever in CY2024.
BMW India Sales performance:
BMW Group delivered 15,721 vehicles comprising 15,012 BMWs and 709 Minis. The automaker achieved its highest December sales of 2,244 units, a 17% increase, and its best-ever Q4 sales of 4,958 units, a 15% improvement.
In 2024, BMW saw a significant boost in its Luxury Class vehicle sales, with an additional 2,507 units sold, marking an 8% increase compared to the previous year. Among the Luxury Class models, the BMW X7 emerged as the top performer, with 1,570 units delivered, reflecting a 4% growth. Since its launch, the X7 has crossed the impressive milestone of over 5,000 units sold in India, showcasing its strong demand in the premium SUV segment. Additionally, sales of the iconic 7 Series also experienced a notable rise, with a 15% increase to 865 units sold.
BMW also made substantial strides in the electric vehicle (EV) market in India. A total of 1,249 BMW and Mini electric vehicles were delivered in 2024, signalling a growing preference for electrified mobility. The BMW i7, which became the best-selling EV in its class, sold 384 units, contributing significantly to the brand’s EV success. Overall, India has now received more than 3,000 EV deliveries, reinforcing BMW’s commitment to sustainable and innovative mobility solutions in the country.
SUVs account for 56% of the brand’s overall sales. 8,351 SUVs were sold in CY2024, a 16% increase from the year before. While the X1 was the most popular SUV with a sales share of more than 20%, the BMW X5 recorded its greatest annual sales to date of 2,056 units. In addition to being the best-selling car in its class, the BMW 3 Series held a 20% market share. Within six months after its release, more than 1,000 5 Series Long Wheelbase vehicles were sold.
BMW introduced eight new M vehicles in India in 2024. The M340i was the best-selling M model, and the automaker delivered 875 units. In 2024, Mini shipped 709 units. With 250 units sold, the 3-Door Cooper S was the best-selling model, showing a 77% increase from the year before. Between January and December 2024, BMW Motorrad delivered 8,301 motorcycles.
