BMW sold 2,482 cars & 1,024 motorcycles in Q1 2020 in India

BMW Group India has announced that the brand has delivered a total of 2482 units of BMW and Mini cars along with 1024 units of BMW Motorrad motorcycles in the first quarter (Q1) of the Calendar Year (CY January 2020 – March 2020). To further bifurcate BMW India has sold 2365 cars and Mini India has sold 117 cars in Q1. 

The majority contribution of sales for BMW India is from the locally-produced Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) range that includes the BMW X1, BMW X3, BMW X5 and the BMW X7 along with the BMW 5 Series and the 3 Series. For Mini India over 60% of sales are through the locally produced Mini Countryman and the Mini Hatch. 

For BMW Motorrad the BMW G 310 R and the BMW G 310 GS motorcycles drove over 80% of yearly sales while other motorcycle models such as the BMW R 1250 GS / GSA, the BMW F 750 / 850 GS / 850 GSA and the BMW S 1000 RR also remain in admiration of motorcycle enthusiasts. BMW Motorrad India has reported a growth of 71.5% in Q1 2020 as compared to the same period in 2019.

In recent news, BMW introduced a new 3 Series variant at a starting price of INR 41.70 lakh ex-showroom, India. The new BMW 330i Sport with a petrol engine has replaced the earlier entry-level model the 330d Sport with a diesel engine which has now been removed from the brand’s line-up.

The brand also introduced a new entry-level model of the X7 at the price of INR 92.50 lakh ex-showroom. The BMW X7 xDrive30d DPE is now the new base trim and undercuts the previous base trim the X7 xDrive30d DPE Signature by INR 10 lakh.

BMW Motorrad India is also expected to launch the BS6 compliant BMW G310R and the G310GS in the Indian market in the second half of 2020. 

Due to the current lockdown imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the brand is focusing more on digital channels to interact with customers and the brand has introduced innovative, contactless and safe ways to meet the requirements of existing as well as potential customers and dealer partners.
