BMW India has announced the BSVI rollout of all variants across their luxury car product portfolio. The German car manufacturer also states that the recent launches which took place in 2019, all of those cars have also transitioned to become BSVI compliant. The brand states that their petrol car range is completely BSVI ready and that the diesel car range will also be ready ahead of the deadline. BMW will be hiking prices of all BSVI compliant models by nearly 6%, effective from 2020.
BMW manufacturers cars for India at their plant in Chennai and local production of BSVI compliant diesel variants of the 5-series and 6-series Gran Turismo have already begun. The segment-best X1 will also become BSVI compliant with its diesel motor very soon. The 2.0L, 4-cylinder diesel motor had to move to BSVI as it is the bread-and-butter engine seen under the hood of the X1, X3, X4, 5-series, 6-series, etc.
BMW is also offering lucrative deals on their existing stock of BSIV compliant luxury cars, just to clear stocks before the deadline kicks in. Starting production of BSVI ready cars ahead of timeline is more of a strategic decision, so that no inventory gets stuck at dealerships on a later stage. BMW is offering low rate of interest, low EMIs and flexi-loan up to 7 year tenure along with the BMW Service Inclusive up to 10 years.
As of date, it is Mercedes-Benz who leads the luxury car market in India. However, BMW has made quite some noise with their new X7 SUV which is the biggest car from the brand.
