Known as First Automotive Works and now FAW Group Co. Ltd., this car and truck manufacturer was founded in July 1956 and is headquartered in Changchun, China. FAW produces light, medium and heavy trucks and became a leading producer of buses and luxury coaches soon after it opened in the late 1950s. FAWs overall production volume now is around 1 million units per annum.
FAW has recently announced a new collaboration for the development of a special-edition Bestune T77, FAW’s crossover car, with Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi. There will not be any changes in the car in terms of design and hardware but new features on the inside will be seen. A holographic assistant will be displayed on the dashboard in the form of customizable avatars called the Xiao AI, providing virtual assistance similar to Apple’s Siri and Google’s assistant. It can be integrated into your home network as well and it can control all the smart home systems.
The Bestune T77 is powered by a 1.2- litre, turbocharged petrol engine producing a maximum power of 143 HP coupled to 7-speed automatic transmission. This compact SUV is 4525mm long, 1845mm wide and 1615mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2600mm. The FAW Bestune will only be available for sale in China.
FAW also produces the Hongqi L5 an USD $8,00,000 limo and is used as official state car of China. The Hongqi L5 has a 4.0-litre, turbocharged engine and comes with automatic transmission. Released in 2013 at the Shanghai Auto Show, it is one of the most expensive cars you can buy in China and it is only available in China
