Bentley has revealed the new Bentley Batur, a drop-top convertible, becoming the third coachbuilt Bentley of the modern era. The Bentley Batur has been created by Bentley’s in house bespoke division, Mulliner. Mulliner is also the longest standing coachbuilder in the world and continues to offer truly crafted cars.
The Batur comes with an open-air Grand Touring design and is an evolution to the Bentley’s DNA. The brand reveals that the Batur is the “ultimate expression of personalisation and individualism and also a canvas for imagination”. The Bentley Batur has been co-created through selected clients and will be strictly limited to 16 units worldwide.
The Bentley Batur follows the open cockpit history of Bentley cars which dates back from 1919, and through the company’s foundation years in the 1920s. The Batur also draws inspiration from the Bacalar and features a ‘wraparound’ cockpit. The Batur also gets an ‘airbridge’ behind the seats and tapered cowls offering a cocooned environment. The airbridge and the cowls are not only aesthetic, but also offer a semi-enclosed luggage compartment.
The transforming the car from an open-top to a coupe is the, convertible roof. The roof can be deployed or stowed in just 19 seconds and at speeds of up to 50 kmph. The roof sealing system also comes with refinements and acoustic treatments through a combination of insulation material to keep it not only aesthetic but also functional.
Powering the Bentley Batur is a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine. The iconic W12 engine produces 750 PS of power. The Bentley W12 will be hand assembled and the Batur Convertible will be one of the last ever Bentleys to use this iconic engine. The engine has literally powered Bentley’s success for the last two decades, reveals the luxury brand.
Bentley will offer infinite paint choices on the Batur, and no two units are likely to be the same. Clients can choose from every surface, every graphics and every finish to their liking. The Bentley Batur is estimated to cost over GBP 2 Million which roughly converts to INR 21 Crore.
