Benelli TRK 800 spotted testing, Will it come to India?

Written by Nizam Shaikh

It is no secret that Benelli has been working on new motorcycles one of them being the Benelli TRK 800, the Chinese version of which was seen in the form of leaked pictures. In China, the Zhejiang Qianjiang, Benelli’s parent company is likely to soon introduce the TRK 800 under the QJ Motor SRB 750 Adventure branding.

The motorcycle has been now spotted testing sans camouflage indicating that the market launch is quite close and if sources are to be believed the brand is expected to launch the QJ Motor SRB 750 Adventure/Benelli TRK 800 coming September. But it is also being hypothesized that due to the COVID-19 uncertainties the introduction could be postponed in the European market.

The powertrain on the QJ Motor SRB 750 Adventure/Benelli TRK 800 is likely to be based on the Benelli 752s and Leoncino 800 which are powered by a 754cc parallel twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, 4-valve per cylinder DOHC engine with Electronic fuel injection and dual throttle body that produces 76.8 PS of power and 67 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed transmission and wet multi-plate clutch.

The QJ Motor SRB 750 Adventure/Benelli TRK 800 is also likely to feature a 5-inch fully-digital full-colour TFT instrument cluster, keyless ignition, riding modes, ABS and traction control for its electronic package along with full-LED lighting, long-travel suspension, luggage mounting capability etc.

In terms of design and styling, it gets upright front fascia with a tall windscreen, large headlamp units, a front beak, upright handlebars, chiselled fuel tank, step-up seats, side slung high-mounted exhaust, tail integrated pillion grabrail and tail rack. The motorcycle also comes with spoked wheels and dual sport tyres for both on-road and off-road use.

In the Indian market, the brand is yet to upgrade the TRK 502 and the TRK 502x adventure motorcycles but it is being speculated that Benelli might launch the TRK 800 in India next year. When launched the TRK800 will compete with the Triumph Tiger 800, BMW F 750 GS, the BMW F 850 GS and the likes.
