Benelli has introduced the 2022 Leoncino 800 Trail, an updated version of the scrambler style of the neo-retro roadster lineup. The primary focus was on the chassis and engine front. The model’s exposed steel frame now has additional strength and is updated to suit the bike’s character. The suspension gets an update, and there have also been minor changes to the engine. As for the design, it remains identical to the previous model.
The Trail features an inverted U-shaped DRL as well as all-around LED lighting. The colour choices available are grey and green. Both the colour choices are matte, which further enhances the look. It comes with added protection such as side plates for the engine. The high-mounted twin exhausts, license plate holder and 19-inch front rim complete the look.
Powering the motorcycle is a Euro-5 compliant 754cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder engine. The engine produces a peak power of 76.2 HP and a peak torque of 67 NM. It has a dual overhead camshaft setup, four valves per cylinder, and a throttle body with a double 43 mm diameter. The transmission is a 6-speed gearbox that also features a slipper clutch.
The Leoncino 800 Trail comes with an exposed steel trellis frame which it shares with the standard version. However, you get added steel plates in the Trail version. The motorcycle comes with 120/70 section 19-inch front and 170/70 section 17-inch rear, dual-purpose tyres. As for the rims, they are of the spoked tubeless type with an aluminium rim and hub. A non-adjustable 50mm upside-down does suspension duty at the front with 140mm of travel. As for the rear, you also get a preload-adjustable monoshock with 140mm travel.
The model will be available from April 2022 in Italy and costs EUR 8,590. Benelli will also offer a detuned A2-compliant version at EUR 8,290. Expect the model to be available in other parts of Europe soon after.
The Italian manufacturer has not hinted at launching the bike in India. If the manufacturer decides to in the future, pricing could play a significant role in the bike’s success in the growing adventure and trail bike segment.
