Benelli has unveiled the new Benelli Leoncino 500 Sport motorcycle in the Chinese market. The bike is the Cafe Racer version of the standard Benelli Leoncino 500 scrambler. The bike comes with cosmetic changes as well as a more engaging rider’s triangle. It appears that Benelli has not made any significant mechanical changes to the Leoncino 500 Sport.
The Benelli Leoncino 500 Sport a rounded headlamp with a retro-style bikini fairing. The Cafe fairing comes with a bubble windscreen and a small side case that also adds a practical touch to the bike. The Leoncino 500 Sport comes with an almond-shaped fuel tank with the Benelli logo and pleated bench seat. The motorcycle gets rounded mirrors and chopped fenders which give it a classic scrambler look. Benelli has also incorporated the Lion of Pesaro emblem on the front fender, typical of the Leoncino line. The Leoncino 500 also features a Y-pipe exhaust outlet and cross-spoke wire rims.
The Benelli Leoncino 500 Sport features a 499.6cc twin-cylinder, DOHC engine with electronic fuel injection. The liquid-cooled engine produces 47.5 PS of power and 47 Nm of torque. The bike comes with a smooth-shifting 6-speed gearbox. The Benelli Leoncino 500 Sport comes with a 12.7-litre fuel tank and 785mm of seat height. The brand also reveals that the Leoncino 500 Sport tips the scales at 198 kg at the kerb.
The Benelli Leoncino 500 Sport comes with projector LED headlamps and a digital instruments cluster. The Leoncino 500 also comes with LED taillamps and LED indicator lamps. The Benelli Leoncino 500 Sport gets a similar upside-down front fork suspension and a mono-shock suspension on the rear. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch cross-spoke rims. Stopping power comes from twin disc brakes on the front with Brembo radially mounted stoppers. On the rear, the Benelli Leoncino 500 Sport comes with a single disc brake-equipped with a hydraulic calliper.
The Benelli Leoncino 500 in the BS6 avatar is available in India at INR 4.60 lakh ex-showroom price. The brand has not indicated if it will bring the Leoncino 500 Sport to India anytime soon.
