Benelli has unveiled a new electric scooter in the Indonesian market. Sources report that Benelli was going to name the electric scooter Divo but instead the e-scooter appeared with the Dong moniker. The Benelli Dong electric scooter comes with a futuristic design language and a futuristic swingarm.
The Dong electric scooter comes with a 1,200W electric motor which is mounted in the hub of the rear wheel. The hub-mounted motor is capable of delivering 24.8 Nm of torque. Sources report that the Dong has a gradability of 15-degrees and can do a maximum speed of 45 kmph. The electric motor draws power from a 18650 BMS-60V/26 Ah lithium-ion battery that is capable of delivering 60 km of range on a single charge. The Benelli Dong measures 1670 mm in length, 670 mm in width and 1025 mm in height. The electric scooter comes with a 1235mm wheelbase and weighs just 74 kg.
The Benelli Dong electric scooter comes with a futuristic design language and gets LED headlamps, LED taillamps and indicator lamps. The front apron comes with a unique elliptical shape and comes with a generous footboard and seat. The rear end features a unique swingarm design with a single shock absorber and minimalist rear apron. The electric scooter uses the under-seat storage area to house the battery pack, giving the Dong very compact dimensions. The e-scooter also comes with a floating effect pillion grabrail.
The Benelli Dong comes with a push-button start/stop, keyless entry and a unique remote. The Dong also gets a fully digital instruments cluster with amber backlit and multifunction switchgear with colour coding. The brand has also equipped the Dong with artificial ICE engine sounds which come with adjustable output levels.
The Benelli Dong in Indonesia costs IDR 36,800,000 on the road in Jakarta, which translates to INR 1.89 lakh in India. The brand has not yet announced if it will be launching its electric vehicle products in the Indian market.
