Bajaj relaunches Avenger 220 Street cruiser in India

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

Bajaj has made a significant move in the Indian cruiser motorcycle market with the reintroduction of its flagship cruiser, the Avenger 220 Street, for the 2023 model year. This reimagined offering maintains the core design elements that made its 2022 predecessor a standout choice for cruiser enthusiasts.

Key Highlights Bajaj Avenger 220

The 2023 Avenger 220 Street retains its iconic circular headlight, which adds a unique character to the motorcycle. The headlight is complemented by a small visor and bulb-type turn indicators on either side. Other signature design elements that remain unchanged include the teardrop-shaped fuel tank, scooped single-piece seat, and the sturdy single-piece grab-rail at the rear. Bajaj offers two striking colour shades for the 2023 Avenger 220 Street: Ebony Black and Spicy Red, providing riders with choices to suit their preferences.

Underneath the classic design, the Avenger 220 Street packs a punch with a 220cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine. This powerplant delivers an impressive 18.76 BHP of power and 17.55 Nm of torque, seamlessly controlled by a five-speed gearbox.

The instrument cluster on the 2023 Avenger 220 Street has received a modern update, featuring a fully digital console. This display provides essential information, including a speedometer, odometer, trip meter, fuel level readout, clock, and more, ensuring riders have all the data they need at their fingertips.

Mechanical Highlights

In terms of its mechanical components, the Avenger 220 Street opts for a straightforward approach. It features telescopic front forks and dual rear shocks for a comfortable and stable ride. The braking system comprises a single front disc brake and a rear drum brake setup. This cruiser rolls on a 17-inch front wheel and a 15-inch rear wheel, both wrapped in 90/90 front and 170/90 rear tires, offering good grip and stability.

Bajaj also caters to cruiser enthusiasts with an alternative variant called the ‘Cruise.’ This model includes added features like a larger front visor, a cushioned backrest, and spoke wheels, catering to different rider preferences.

Pricing Is The Key

Perhaps one of the most noteworthy aspects is the pricing strategy. Bajaj has set the price for both the Avenger 220 Street and Cruise at an identical INR 1,43,373 (ex-showroom, Delhi), making it an attractive proposition for those in the market for a cruiser.

What sets the Avenger lineup apart is its unique position in the Indian market. As of now, there are no direct rivals that can match the blend of style, performance, and affordability that the Avenger series offers, solidifying its status as a standout choice for cruiser enthusiasts in India.
