Bajaj Chetak : More Details

The scooter gets a 4kW/14 Nm beltless solid gear drive electric motor. Further, the equipped IP67-rated high-tech Lithium-Ion battery ensures 108 km in Eco Mode.

Bajaj has confirmed a charging time of 5 hours, with 25 per cent getting charged in under 60 minutes. Bajaj is offering its customers three years or 50,000 km of warranty on the battery.

Another key convenience of owning a Chetak is its low maintenance. With a service interval of 12,000 km or one year, customers have some more room. To ensure a happy ownership experience, The Bajaj Chetak is available in four colours – Brooklyn Black, HazelNut, Indigo Metallic, and Velluto Rosso.

Currently, the Chetak is the only electric scooter in Bajaj’s lineup. In fact, it is also the one that posts the lowest sales numbers currently. Partly because of Bajaj’s generous price tag. But there are some key features of this scooter. This helps it to differentiate itself from the rest. First is that it is the only metal-bodied e-scooter of the lot. Second is the neo-retro design, which has taken inspiration from the petrol-powered Bajaj Chetak scooter of the previous year.

Bajaj’s plans to expand Chetak production

According to sources, the company is aiming to hit 6,000 units in sales per month by the end of the current fiscal year. Recently, the President of Urbanite at Bajaj Auto, Eric Vas, talked about Bajaj Auto’s short and long-term plans in the electric vehicle sector.

He also mentioned how Bajaj Auto perceives the current state of the EV market in the country. Bajaj is not just focusing on Chetak, it is focusing on the EV space as well. The company also intends to be the world’s largest 2- and 3-wheeler EV maker outside of the Chinese market in the next 5-6 years.
