New details about the upcoming Bajaj NS400 have surfaced online. According to a media report, the company is looking to launch a new version of the NS400 in 2024. This will be different from the Dominar 400.
The first gen Pulsar NS200 was launched 11 years back. Meanwhile, the Dominar debuted 7 years ago. This means, Bajaj is looking at introducing a larger displacement NS. What better way than the NS400, which could appeal to not just existing Pulsar NS owners but also other enthusiasts?
In terms of design, the Pulsar NS has not received much changes other than the sticker and a paint job. This time around, Bajaj is likely to go all out in designing not just stickers but also the panelling could be different. Recently, the NS200 got upside-down front forks which could be carried over to the larger NS400 as well.
The bigger displacement Pulsar NS is likely to use the current perimeter chassis of the NS200. Bajaj is likely to strengthen and customise the chassis as per the larger displacement engine’s requirement. That said, the overall dimensions of the NS400 are likely to be a close match to the NS200. Further, the NS400 could weigh lesser than the Dominar 400 as well.
In terms of features, the new Bajaj Pulsar NS400 could get updated features, including connectivity and possibly a new LED headlamp. Bajaj is likely to position the NS400 slightly lower than the Dominar in the Indian market.
Bajaj is spoilt for choice when it comes to engines in the 400cc segment. There is the 373cc unit from the Dominar, then the 399cc units from the Triumph Speed 400 and the KTM 390 Duke.
However, Bajaj might use the Dominar’s motor for the NS400. This makes around 40 HP and could be paired with a 6-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch.
