Bajaj is currently testing a new Pulsar range that will further expand its comprehensive motorcycle portfolio. Images of two development mules from the Pulsar range have emerged on the internet with full camouflage covers. The test mules appear to be undergoing endurance performance testing or general highway durability testing.
Upon launch, the models will become the biggest Pulsar models as they will employ an in-house developed quarter-litre engine. Rumours are the new engine will come with VVT (Variable Valve Timing) technology. But the architecture will be an air-oil-cooled motor to keep costs in check, especially for price-sensitive markets like India.
Bajaj will spawn two variants on the same engine and chassis platform. One will be a Naked Sports and another a semi-faired variant. Bajaj could name the Naked Sport variant NS250 and the semi-faired model is likely to come with the ‘F’ suffix and the name Pulsar 250F. The name will be revealed around Diwali when the brand launches the motorcycles.
The Bajaj Pulsar NS250 features a roadster design with sharp features on the front and rear. The motorcycle comes with a high tail low nose design philosophy and comes with a single headlamp unit. The bike comes with a large fuel tank design with tank extensions and a pod-like instruments cluster. The Pulsar NS250 also features a midship exhaust with an upswept muffler and a belly cowling. The bike also features single bench seats and a sleek tail cowl that houses the twin LED taillamps with elegant light signatures.
The Bajaj Pulsar 250F will come with a semi-faired design with a wide headlamp cluster and a small flyscreen. The mirrors are mounted on the fairing, and the headlamps appear to get a monocular LED projector in the centre, and sleek LED DRLs. The exhaust design, seat, tail cowl, side panels and alloy wheel design remain common on both models.
Both the Pulsar NS250 and Pulsar 250F will come with the same 250cc single-cylinder engine. In addition to this, the oil cooled motor could come with advanced Variable Valve Timing actuation technology. This will help maintain a balance between performance and fuel efficiency. The advanced technology will also help the motorcycle achieve future emission regulations. The engine is likely to produce around 25 PS of power and 20 Nm of torque.
