Bajaj has officially announced the launch of their BS6 compliant Pulsar 150 motorcycle. The Pulsar 150 has been a popular nameplate in the Indian two-wheeler market, and now it meets the new emission norms. The brand will offer the bike in Pulsar 150 & Pulsar 150 Twin Disc formats and the asking price is INR 94,956 & INR 98,835 respectively. Pricing for both the variants with the BS6 update has gone up by INR 8998 compared to the BS4 model.
The 2020 Pulsar 150 with BS6 update now comes with fuel-injection as standard. The system has also resulted in benefits such as better fuel economy, better throttle response and a feather-touch start system. The brand claims that the FI system will also be easy to maintain so customers need not worry. The bikes will be available in black + chrome and black + red paint options with new body decals.
Powering the Bajaj Pulsar 150 BS6 is a 149.5cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, FI, DTS-i engine producing 14 PS of power @ 8500 RPM and 13.25 Nm of torque @6500 RPM matched to a 5-speed gearbox. The bike rides on a telescopic front fork with 135mm travel and twin rear gas charged shock absorbers. To make the bike safer, you get a single-channel ABS setup on the 260mm front disc while at the back you have a 130mm disc / drum brake. The Pulsar 150 BS6 has a tank capacity of 15L and a kerb weight of 148 kg.
The 2020 Bajaj Pulsar 150 BS6 measures 2055mm in length, 765mm in width, 1060mm in height, 165mm in ground clearance and 1320mm in wheelbase. Other features include LED tail lamp, semi-digital + analogue speedometer cluster, clip-on handle bars, single-piece contoured seat, alloy wheels, engine underbelly cowl, tank shrouds, rear tyre hugger and a kick starter. The bike runs on tubeless tyres.
With this, the Bajaj Pulsar 150 will now cost more than INR 1 lakh, on-road. This is surely a tough price point for motorcycles. However, almost every two-wheeler has seen a significant bump in price thanks to the BS6 update. It will be interesting to note the sales of two-wheelers from 1st April 2020.
