Bajaj India has hiked the prices for its entire range of products. As a result of this, its EV offering, the Chetak, has also received a significant price bump. The scooter now gets a price tag of INR 1.54 lakh (ex-showroom) Pune. This means customers need to pay INR 12,749 more when compared to the previous pricing. With the increase in price, there’s no change in the scooter. The design styling and mechanicals are exactly the same as before. Since its launch back in 2019, Bajaj has sold a total of 14,000 units of Chetak. Currently, the company is due to clear the existing 10,000 bookings for the electric scooter.
Bajaj Chetak – A Brief Overview
The scooter gets a 4kW/14 Nm beltless solid gear drive electric motor. The equipped IP67-rated high-tech Lithium-Ion battery ensures 90 km in Eco Mode. Bajaj has confirmed a charging time of 5 hours, with 25 per cent getting charged in under 60 minutes. Another key convenience of owning a Chetak is its low maintenance. With a service interval of 12,000 km or one year, customers have some more room. To ensure a happy ownership experience, Bajaj is offering its customers three years or 50,000 km of warranty on the battery. The Bajaj Chetak is available in four colours – Brooklyn Black, HazelNut, Indigo Metallic, and Velluto Rosso.
Bajaj Chetak Now Made In Akurdi
Bajaj recently inaugurated a new plant in Akurdi, which is their EV manufacturing plant. This manufacturing facility’s capacity will reach 5,00,000 EVs per annum when running at full capacity. Other than the Chetak, this Akurdi facility will also cater to the operational and assembling of EVs for Husqvarna, KTM and Gas Gas. With a massive investment of 750 crores in this EV manufacturing plant, we are expecting radical products from Bajaj in the coming months.
