The sporty TT model in the Audi stable may be on the brink of discontinuation. The eroding sales of the Audi TT, which were down by 45% in 2018 and have declined further in 2019 and this could be the primary reason why the brand is likely to discontinue the model from next year onwards.
The first Audi TT was launched two decades ago, and the third generation model was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in 2014. The current model year 2019 could be the last in service and it is likely to be replaced by an electric sports car in the same price bracket. The new car is likely to be based on the MEB platform which serves the Audi Q4 e-tron concept.
Audi plans to upgrade its portfolio by replacing its vehicles with electric versions and has plans to bring in 20 electric vehicles (EV) by 2020 and 30 EVs by the year 2025. It is also reported that the limited edition model of the Audi TT called the ‘Quantum Gray Edition’ will debut soon and will be available for purchase through Audi’s online sales channels.
