Audi to launch Q2 SUV in India by September 2020

Audi is planning to launch the Audi Q2 in the Indian market adding to the brand’s portfolio and will be positioned below the upcoming next-generation Audi Q3. The Audi Q2 SUV, when launched, will become the smallest Audi in the Audi family and is speculated to be the key volume driver. The Audi Q2 is expected to be offered in multiple trim variants along with a fully loaded well equipped top-spec version. 

The Audi Q2 made its global debut at the Geneva Motor show in 2016, built on the MQB (Modularer Querbaukasten) “Modular Transverse Matrix” platform and measures 4191 mm in length, 1794 mm in width, 1508 mm in height and a wheelbase of 2601 mm with a generous 405 litres of boot space on the front wheel driven version and 355 litres of boot space on the Quattro all-wheel-drive. 

In terms of design and styling, the Audi Q2 crossover SUV features a single-frame grille with trough air vents, chunky double barrel headlamp units, silver skid plate, silver accented air intakes that flank the bumper, a wide black finished air dam, rock guards on the lower parts of the doors, rounded wheel arches, multi-spoke alloy wheels, squarish combination LED tail lamps and a wide tailgate. 

On the inside, the Audi Q2 features a multi-layered dashboard with an island-style Audi MMI infotainment system with integrated Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and the latest generation telematics, rounded turbine-style air conditioning vents, rotary air-conditioning controls, a chunky gear selector on the central tunnel, flat-bottomed steering wheel with controls, 12.3-inch full-colour digital instruments cluster, ambient lights, frameless IRVM, wireless charging etc. 

The Audi Q2 is speculated to be offered with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 190 Hp of power and 320 Nm of torque matched to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox with the option of front-wheel drive and Quattro four-wheel-drive system. 

The Audi Q2 is expected to make its India debut in September 2020 and the brand is likely to open pre-launch bookings from next month. The SUV is speculated to be priced around the INR 35 – INR 45 lakh mark and rival the Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1 and the Volvo XC40 in the Indian market.
