Audi has managed to sell 1,000 untis of the A3 sedan in three months from launch.
Launched at a cracker of a price, at Rs. 22.95 lakh (ex-showroom), the Audi A3 managed to undercut the hatchback offerings from the other German competitors. This immediately turned the table and Audi got the price advantage with relatively more bang for the buck by offering a sedan at a lesser price than a competitor hatchback.
The A3 will definitely provide a significant sales boost to the company which was the first luxury car maker in India to cross 10,000 units in a calendar year.
The A3 is offered in India with a 2.0L TDI diesel motor producing 143 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque and a 1.8L TSI petrol motor producing 180 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque.
But the A3 will no longer be the sole performer in the segment, Mercedes-Benz is all set to launch the regular variants of the CLA sedan which will fight head-on with the A3.
Audi has also revealed plans to introduce the A3 hatchback in 2015.
