Audi S5 Sportback launched in India at INR 79.06 lakh

Audi India has launched the S5 Sportback with a price tag of INR 79.06 lakh ex-showroom. The brand gave us a subtle hint that the S5 Sportback was coming, during the debut of the Audi Q2 last year and also recently teased the car via the brand’s official social media channels. Audi has also updated its official Indian website which now lists the S5 Sportback. India receives the facelift model recently introduced in the international market featuring styling updates to the exteriors and new interior features. Audi S5 Sportback comes with 8 colour options including Turbo Blue, Daytona Grey and Tango Red.

Powertrain

Powering the Audi S5 Sportback is a 3.0-litre V-6-Cylinder turbo-petrol motor that produces 349 Hp of power and 500 Nm of torque. The engine comes with an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox with Audi Drive Select – Dynamic, Comfort, Auto, Individual and Efficiency modes as well as a Quattro permanent all-wheel drivetrain. The Audi S5 Sportback is capable of achieving a top speed electronically limited to 250 kmph. The S5 Sportback is also capable of sprinting from 0-96 kmph (0-60 mph) in just 4.5 seconds. The drivetrain also features a Quattro sport rear differential capable of directing the torque to the appropriate wheel depending on demand, enabling the car to carve corners at higher speeds.

Design & Styling

The S5 Sportback features a four-door coupe design and comes with a hallmark Audi singleframe grille with honeycomb mesh finished in matte titanium black, matt aluminium silver, S5 badging, wide air inlets in the frame and blade in matt aluminium silver, a long bonnet with raised ridgelines, LED headlights with Matrix technology as standard, new-generation segmented daytime running light signatures, rounded wheel arches, 19-inch 5-double-arm S style Graphite Gray alloy wheels with optional red brake callipers, a character line that runs from the edge of the headlights to the taillights, chrome window garnish, a sloping roofline that ends far into the rear deck, S-Sport ORVM housings in aluminium look, illuminated door sill trims with S-emblem, matte aluminium silver surrounding the S diffuser, S-specific twin tailpipes in chrome and an S-rear spoiler.

Interior Features

The Audi S5 Sportback features a multilayered dashboard with a wraparound design and high-quality materials, matte brushed aluminium inlays in the cabin, 3-spoke design flat-bottomed Multifunction Plus steering wheel with S emblem and leather wraps, S-specific elements such as the front sport seats made with leather/Alcantara combination, state-of-the-art infotainment platform with a 25.6-centimetre MMI touch display with latest-generation connected features and functions such as the MMI navigation plus and MMI touch, 31.2-centimetre Audi virtual cockpit plus full HD driver’s display with S-specific design, intuitive menu navigation & driver-focussed orientation, 3-zone automatic air conditioning as standard, a large glass panoramic sunroof, Contour Ambient lighting with 30 options, pedal caps and the footrest with matt-brushed aluminium inlays, Audi sound system as standard and an optional 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound system with a 3D sound and a maximum output of 755W.

Competition

The Audi S5 Sportback will rival the likes of the ‘M’ engineered BMW M340i xDrive launched at the price of INR 62.90 lakh ex-showroom. The 3.0-litre six-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo engine produces 387 Hp of power and 500 Nm of torque which is the first M engine to be built in India at the BMW Group Plant, Chennai.
