Audi India has posted its sales report for the first quarter of 2023. The figures look quite encouraging from the German luxury carmaker. Audi India retailed 1,950 units for the given period, which is January to March 2023 period. This translates to 126 per cent year-on-year growth. In comparison, Audi sold a mere 862 units in the same period last year. The brand also mentioned that Q1 2023 sales constitute its strongest Q1 numbers since 2018.

Audi further clarified that 60 per cent of total sales in Q1 2023 were from SUVs. Unsurprisingly, Q3 and Q5 were its bestselling models for the given period. Noteworthy to mention the A4 sedan also brought a good number of sales. Thus the three strongest pillars for Audi India were the Q3, the Q5 and the A4 sedan.

Another key point is that not just the entry-level models, but even the top-end ICE portfolio too is getting strong demand. This includes the likes of the Q7 and Q8 SUVs and the much coveted A8 L sedan. Overall, the numbers remain higher at the bottom end of the pyramid, but even at the top end of the luxury segment too is quite encouraging.

As far as the EV segment, there are three models in its portfolio. The current sales percentage with EVs is something in the range of 3 to 5 per cent. Thus to get into double digits, Audi will need more models. And thus we will get to see the Q8 e-tron in India this year.” The current EV line-up includes the likes of e-tron SUV and Sportback and the e-tron GT sports car.

Audi India’s Pre-Owned Car Business

On the pre-owned car business – Audi Approved Plus too, Audi is doing pretty well. It currently operates 22 Audi-Approved Plus showrooms across all major cities in the country.  The used car business also witnessed the strongest-ever sales in a quarter with a 50 per cent year-on-year increase.
