Ather recently revealed that the brand will be introducing its family oriented Rizta electric scooter in the Indian market on 6th April 2024. The electric mobility company also revealed that the Ather Rizta will come with a larger seat which was also teased but the brand. However, Ather has not yet revealed the battery capacity and the powertrain specifications.
But, a media report now suggests that the brand is likely to use the same battery pack which is being offered on the Ather 450 range. This leads us to believe that the Ather Rizta could come with a 2.9 kWh battery pack in its base trim. While higher-spec models could get the 3.7 kWh battery pack. However, the range is not likely to be comparable with the Ather 450 range as the Rizta is likely to be heavier than the sporty 450 series.
In addition to this, the power unit is also likely to come with a different state of tune. The Rizta is likely to be a family oriented scooter and thus the brand is likely to focus more on function rather than performance. But, to put things into perspective, the Ather 450X with the 2.9 kWh battery claims an IDC range of 111 km on a single charge. The higher-spec model with 3.7 kWh battery pack claims to offer an IDC range of 150 km on a single charge.
In terms of competition, the Ather Rizta is likely to lock horns with the Bajaj Chetak Electric and the TVS iQube. The Baja Chetak comes with a 2.88 kWh battery pack and offers a Neo-Retro styling. The iQube, on the other hand, comes with a 3.03 kWh battery pack and modern styling.
Ather is teasing the Rizta EV through its OOH (Out Of Home) campaign. The brand has installed two advertisements with a picture of the “XXXXXL Seat”, one in Worli (Mumbai) and the other at the Shivranjini Circle (Ahmedabad). The OOH Advert leads us to believe that the brand will not only be offering a large seat but also spacious underseat storage. However the dimensions of the seat and the storage are both scarce.
