Ather steps ahead for safety features on electric two-wheelers

Ather Energy has announced that the company continues to set new benchmarks in the Indian market through latest innovations. Ather revealed that the brand is bringing cutting-edge technology to its electric scooters to keep riders as well as road users safe. In cars, features such as ABS, Airbags and ADAS have now become standard, improving road safety. However, two-wheelers lack a lot of features in terms of safety. While only safety features on two-wheelers available are ABS and ARAS, Ather plans to change this by introducing Ather’s safety suite.

Ather claims that ICE-powered vehicles have the limitation for an update post-purchase and hence lack the ability to add features. On the contrary, Ather’s electric scooters can evolve through software and be kept up-to-date from time to time. This will benefit its rider’s by offering safety updates and the latest innovations from the company through over-the-air updates.

Ather Safety Suite

The Ather safety suite includes features such as Skid Control which is a traction control system that monitors the motor torque and prevents skidding on low-friction surfaces such as Water, Sand and Gravel. In addition to this, Ather also offers Fall Safe, a features with cuts off the power to the motor in an even of a fall. This reduces the risk of further injury by preventing unintentional acceleration. Ather scooters also come with safety features such as Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) that activates flashing lights during sudden stops at high speeds. This in turn warn the traffic behind and prevents rear end collisions. The Ather EVs also feature convenience technology such as Tow Detect, Live location Sharing, and Theft Detection.

Road Accidents in India

Ather Energy is making its scooters not only smarter but safer and wisely so, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways reveals in their report, “Road Accidents in India 2022”, nearly 45% of all road fatalities involve two-wheelers. And Ather’s commitment to safety will set new standards in the 2-wheeler industry in India.
