Ather Energy, the Bengaluru-based electric scooter maker, has teased its upcoming family-oriented e-scooter, the Rizta. The company claims that the Rizta will offer more space, comfort, and safety than its existing 450 series.

Ather Rizta – What to Expect?

The Rizta, which is expected to be launched in the next few months, will feature a more conventional design than the sporty and futuristic 450 series. The teaser image reveals a flat-faced front apron, a long and flat seat, a spacious floorboard, and a chunky rear grab rail. The scooter will also have 12-inch alloy wheels, LED lights, a touchscreen instrument console, and a front disc brake. The technical specifications of the Rizta are yet to be revealed, but it is likely to share its battery and electric motor with the 450 series.

450 Series Specs

The 450 series consists of three variants: the 450S, the 450X, and the 450 Apex. The 450S and the 450X have a 2.9 kWh battery pack that delivers a certified range of 115 km and a top speed of 90 km/h. The 450 Apex has a 3.7 kWh battery pack that delivers a certified range of 150 km and a top speed of 100 km/h. Which one of these configurations will be used for the Rizta is still unclear. Ather could use multiple configurations by building 2-3 variants of the Rizta.

Product Placement

The Rizta will be Ather’s fourth product in the Indian market, and will compete with other family-friendly electric scooters such as the TVS iQube and the Bajaj Chetak. The company has not announced the pricing of the Rizta yet, but it is expected to be lower than the 450 series, which starts from ₹1.09 lakh (ex-showroom).

Ather Energy is also expanding its presence across the country, with plans to set up its fast-charging network, Ather Grid, in 100 cities by 2024. The company currently has over 200 charging points in 27 cities. Ather also offers a subscription-based service called Ather Battery Protect, which covers the battery warranty and performance for up to five years or 60,000 km.

The Rizta will be unveiled at Ather’s Community Day 2024 event, where the company will also showcase its latest innovations and interact with its customers and fans. Ather has also trademarked the Rishta name, which means ‘relationship’ in Hindi, and says that the scooter will be ready to deliver in six months.
