Ather Energy’s sales story of 2021

Ather Energy, one of the top choices in the EV segment, has been in this business for quite some time now. For 2021, most of the EV companies posted excellent results in terms of sales growth, and the same was for Ather Energy. The support from the Central Government and State Government has also been quite encouraging.

Ather Energy In 2021

The company has released a short glimpse of what it will achieve in 2021. Ather Energy mentioned that all its scooters in 2021 clocked a total of 85.03 million km. And this, when compared to 2019, translates to a growth of 1600 per cent. Of which, Bengaluru and Chennai accounted for 51 per cent and 19 per cent, respectively. This skewed result is only because Ather has made its presence in both the cities at a very early stage.

Other cities are now catching up as well. The most notable ones are Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Coimbatore, Jaipur and Vizag. But there’s an interesting twist in the story. Ather Energy mentioned that the smaller cities are the ones that are riding longer on average. Topping the list is Panaji which stands at 40.5 km/day; meanwhile, 2nd and 3rd on the list is Kozhikode with 39.9 km/day and Jaipur at 37.1 km/day, respectively.

In terms of the number of active Ather scooters on-road, the figure rose from 5,638 units in January 2021 to 22,128 in December 2021. This translates to a growth of almost 292 per cent. With the steady increase in the price of petrol, EVs are a much more economical option. Ather claims that on a cumulative level, taking all its customers into consideration, they saved a total of INR 140,145,624. This figure has been calculated when comparing it to its equivalent ICE counterpart. Being an EV also contributed to the environment as well. The company claims to save over 1.98 million kg of CO2, which is equivalent to burning 1.8 million litres of petrol.
