Indian technology company Ather Energy focussed on premium electric mobility solutions launched the Ather 450X in the Indian market starting with its base town of Bengaluru and later in Chennai. The brand has slowly opened itself up to other key markets in India such as Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kozhikode and Coimbatore.

Ather Energy launched the Ather 450 in the Indian market back in 2018, but recently the brand announced that the company’s maiden electric scooter model will see the end of production and it will be replaced by the Ather 450x, a technologically advanced version of the Ather 450. Powering the Ather 450x is a 6 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that is capable of churning out 26 Nm of torque on demand that can accelerate the e-scooter from 0-40 kmph in just 3.3 seconds. The powerful electric motor draws power from a 2.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that claims to return a riding range of 116 km on the (Indian Drive Cycle) however, the true range is close to 85 km in city conditions.

The Ather 450x is capable of fast charging at a rate of 1.5 km per minute and for the same Ather Energy is in the process of setting up fast-charging stations around the country. They are called Ather Grid and the brand has already set-up 62 such charging points across 11 markets in India. The scooter can also be charged at home which takes 3 hours and 35 minutes to achieve an 80% state of charge and 0-100% (Home Charging) is achieved in 5 hours 45 minutes.
