Ather Energy, an electric mobility solutions manufacturer has expanded its operation to a new city in the Indian market, Chennai. The company has opened pre-orders of the Ather 450 fully-electric scooter and Ather One subscription in Chennai. Ather Energy is based in Bengaluru and the brand was limited to the city and after the success of the company’s flagship Ather 450 electric scooter, it has opened up sales in its second market, in Chennai.
The first batch of Ather 450 scooters have already been sold out, till November 2019 and the company has now opened pre-orders for the second batch. Ather Energy has priced the electric scooters at INR 1,31,683 on-road for the Ather 450 and INR 1,19,091 on-road for the Ather 340 in Chennai. This price includes the regulation two number of helmets, road tax, insurance, GST, FAME II subsidy and other fees.
Ather Energy began the installation of its Ather Grid charging points in Chennai in May 2019 and there are 10 Ather Grid charging points in various parts of the city. The details of these charging points are as follows:-

Ather Energy provides free charging at Ather Grid for all-electric two-wheel and four-wheel vehicles till December 2019 and the brand plans to add 40 to 50 more charging points to their network.
The company has also announced free Ather One subscription for all deliveries in 2019 starting with the September batch. The subscription costs INR 700 + GST per month and offers free access to public and home charging, regular maintenance including consumables, breakdown assistance and unlimited data services.
The Ather 450 which is the flagship scooter is powered by a Brush-Less Direct Current motor, that produces an output of 5.4 kW and an instant torque of 20.5 Nm. It is connected to an IP67 rated water and dust resistant 2.4 kWh lithium-ion battery. The Ather 450 can sprint from 0-40 kmph in just 3.9 seconds and has a range of 75 km and a top speed of 80 kmph. In addition to this, the Ather 450 gets front and rear disc brakes, a full colour interactive 7-inch capacitive touchscreen instrument console rated to IP65, reverse mode, onboard navigation, charge status, remote monitoring of vehicle health, smartphone connectivity and OTA updates among others.
The company is also increasing the production capacity of its manufacturing plant to avail faster deliveries in Bengaluru as well as Chennai.
The company will also be opening an experience centre called Ather Space at Wallace Garden, Nungambakkam on 24th July where customers can test ride vehicles and get a first hand experience of the electric vehicles.
