Ashok Leyland has launched the AVTR 4120, India’s first 4-axle 8×2 DTLA (Dual Tyre Lift Axle) 14-wheeler truck in the Indian market with a capacity of 40.5 tonne Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). Compared to the standard 8×2 trucks the Ashok Leyland AVTR 4120 8×2 DTLA truck is able to carry an additional 5 tons of payload and also claims to offer a better Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
The Ashok Leyland AVTR 4120 8×2 DTLA is able to operate at the 40.5-ton capacity with the lift axle down and boasts to generate revenue similar to a 10×2 truck. With its lift axle up the truck can operate at 28-ton capacity reducing the fuel consumption which claims to be similar to a 6×2 truck. This feature can be used during light or partial loads as well as while returning empty from a trip. This flexibility to operate within the 28-ton to 40.5-ton load range allows the truck to return a best-in-class TCO.
