Ashok Leyland ‘Bada Dost’ LCV launched starting INR 7.75 lakh

Chennai-headquartered second-largest commercial vehicles manufacturer in India, Ashok Leyland has launched the Bada Dost LCV at prices starting INR 7.75 lakh ex-showroom, Mumbai. The Bada Dost from Ashok Leyland strengthens the brand’s LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) portfolio in the domestic market, building on the Dost brand. The Bada Dost LCV will be launched initially in 7 states and will gradually be available pan-India over the next 3 months. 

The Ashok Leyland Bada Dost LCV will be available in two variants – i3 and i4. The ‘i3 LS’ is priced at INR 7.75 lakhs ex-showroom, Mumbai, the ‘i3 LX’ is priced at INR 7.95 lakh ex-showroom, Mumbai, the ‘i4 LS’ is priced at INR 7.79 lakh ex-showroom, Mumbai and the ‘i4 LX’ is priced at INR 7.99 lakh ex-showroom, Mumbai. Furthermore, the brand has announced that the bookings and delivery on the Ashok Leyland Bada Dost LCV is now open through both, physical and digital sales channels.

The Ashok Leyland Bada Dost is built on an all-new robust LCV platform and comes with the best-in-class payload capacity of 1,405 kg on the i3 and 1,860 kg on the i4. The Bada Dost LCV not only claims the best-in-class payload but also features best-in-class load body length, best-in-class ground clearance and a low turning radius making it ideal for both inter and intra city applications reducing the running cost, downtime while increasing customer profits.

The Ashok Leyland Bada Dost is powered by a BS6 compliant Turbo Charged Inter-cooled with Lean NOx Trap (LNT) 1.5-litre three-cylinder Diesel engine that produces 80 Hp of power and 190 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox that claims to deliver best-in-class power & mileage. 

On the inside, the Bada Dost LCV comes with premium car-like interiors with first-in-segment features such as 3-seater walkthrough cabin, a dual-tone dashboard, ergonomically positioned dash-mounted gear shift lever, digital instrumentation, foldable backrest and a collapsible hand-brake. The LCV also comes with tilt adjustable, power steering and the option of Air Conditioning to further reduce driver fatigue and improve the turn around time which translates to more earnings.

In other news, Ashok Leyland has recorded a sales of 2,222 units of Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles – Bus & Truck and 3,602 units in the LCV segment, in the domestic market, bring the total to 5,824 units sold in the month of August 2020. For the same period last year, the brand sold a total of 8,295 units.
