Aprilia Terra 250 spied in production-ready form, India bound?

A new quarter-litre Aprilia adventure series motorcycle has been spied in its production-ready avatar and is being reported to be spied in the brand’s production facility possibly in China. Aprilia already sells the Terra 150 in the Chinese market and could be upgrading the Terra series with a larger displacement engine. 

The undisguised spied motorcycle clearly shows the ‘Terra’ branding on the tank and in terms of its styling, the Terra 250 is likely to draw its design inspiration from the smaller sibling but has key differentiating factors such as the exhaust positioning and the rim on the front wheel also appears smaller in diameter when compared to the Terra 150.

The Terra 150 comes with an extended front fender with a beak design, long-travel suspension, a small flyscreen, halogen headlight, scooped seats, high mounter exhaust, small luggage rack etc. The Terra 150 is powered by a 149.2cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled, 4-stroke fuel-injected DOHC engine that produces 18 hp of power and 14 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike is 2,130mm long, 790mm wide, 1,245mm tall with 180mm of ground clearance and 800mm of seat height. 

The spied motorcycle, the Terra 250, on the other hand, is likely to be powered by a 249cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled 4-stroke engine sourced from the GPR 250 which produces 26.6 ps of power and 22 Nm of torque coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. Suspension duties are likely to be handled by long travel conventional telescopic front forks that appear to have gaiters installed on them in the spied image and a swingarm-mounted monoshock on the rear. Stopping power is likely to come from a single hydraulically operated disc on the front and a single disc with a hydraulic calliper on the rear.

Will the Aprilia Terra 250 come to India? Is the big question and so far the bike has not been spotted testing on the Indian soil as of yet. But if the brand plans to bring the Terra 250 on Indian soil it is likely to bridge the gap between the Xpulse 200 dual-sport and the relatively expensive KTM 390 Adventure.
