Aprilia is looking to bring the RS 440 sports bike to India. This motorcycle will be powered by a parallel-twin 440 cc engine.
According to the teaser image, it seems the bike will make its debut on September 7, 2023. The RS 440 will help the company increase its sales numbers by generating sales in a new segment.
At present, Aprilia has products in the 125cc and 160cc in the form of scooters. Meanwhile the 660cc bikes are brought in as CKD kits and are available in limited quantities.
In terms of looks, the resemblance to other family bikes is evident. The LED DRL looks similar to the RS 660. The DRLs now extend into the fairing as well. The headlamp design is a split type and it’s not clear if the Italian bike maker is offering dual hi/low combination on each side or not.
There is a small wind deflector that should offer sufficient wind protection in a crouched position. The lack of separate indicators could suggest that the DRLs double up as turn signals. It is also possible that the fairing incorporates flush-sitting indicators.
The Aprilia RS 440 gets an underbelly exhaust that aims to keep the centre of mass collected and low. The engine is covered with a fairing while the rear swingarm is made in a custom cast.
In terms of braking there are single discs on both wheels. Meanwhile the larger RS 660 is offered with twin front discs. Additionally, the front disc comes with radial callipers. The RS 440 could include upside down front forks and a rear mono shock.
The rider gets an all-digital screen which relays all the relevant information.
Aprilia is offering an all-new 440cc twin-cylinder engine for the RS 440. This motor is likely to develop around 45 BHP and 40 Nm. It is likely to come with liquid cooling and will be aired to a 6-speed gearbox.
Aprilia is likely to offer a bi-directional quickshifter and a dual-channel ABS with the RS 440.
