Aprilia is planning to upgrade its SR series scooters in the Indian market. The brand will be launching the updated models soon. A media report suggests that the new SR 160 and SR 125 will come with new styling and features. The brand will also launch a new limited edition Vespa scooter to celebrate the brand’s 75th anniversary.
Reports suggest that the new Aprilia SR 125 and SR 160 will come with equipment such as LED lighting and an LCD instruments cluster. The brand is likely to incorporate Bluetooth connectivity features into the instruments cluster. The display will also be able to show a plethora of data such as trip, fuel efficiency, range, distance to empty etc. The brand is also expected to bring in automatic start/stop technology to improve fuel efficiency. Rumours are that Aprilia will also work on the design enhancing the utility space as well as on the engine to improve its power and torque.
At the end of 2020, Aprilia launched the SXR 160 in the maxi-scooter segment. The new scooter comes with large utility space and a BS6 emission-compliant 160.03cc air-fan-cooled single-cylinder motor. The fuel-injected engine pumps out 11 PS of power and 11.6 Nm of torque. The Aprilia SXR 160 is 1,960mm long, 803mm wide and 1,353mm tall and comes with 12-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels.
The brand will also launch the SXR 125 in India soon. Bookings for the SXR 125 have already commenced and the brand has announced that it has begun production of the maxiscooter at the state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Baramati, Maharashtra. The Aprilia SXR 125 can now be reserved at the price of INR 5,000 through Aprilia dealerships or the brand’s e-commerce website. The SXR 125 comes with a 125cc air-cooled four-stroke three-valve engine. The engine makes fuel-injected engine makes close to 10 PS of power and 9.7 Nm of torque. The SXR 125 is styled similar to the SXR 160. The maxiscooter competes with Suzuki Burgman Street in India.
