Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory launched in India with BS4 engine

At the Auto Expo 2020, Italian premium motorcycle manufacturer Aprilia showcased the brand’s flagship Supersport motorcycle Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory model year 2020. Aprilia in the late last year updated the flagship RSV4 and as a result, it got a bigger, more powerful engine as well as tweaks to its suspension and chassis. The engine powering the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory is a 1077cc Aprilia longitudinal 65-degree V-4-cylinder, 4-stroke motor with liquid-cooling system and double overhead camshafts (DOHC) that develops 217 bhp of power @ 13,200 rpm and 122 Nm torque @ 11,000 rpm. The fueling is through 4 Marelli 48mm throttle bodies with 8 injectors and a ride-by-wire engine management system. The new engine comes with a wider 81mm bore, a new oil pump and an additional oil injector as well as changes to its gearing and electronic control unit. The transmission is a 6-speed cassette type with Aprilia Quick Shift electronic system (AQS) along with a wet-multi-plate clutch and a mechanical slipper system.

The electronics package on the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory features Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC) which includes Aprilia Traction control (ATC), wheelie control (AWC), launch control (ALC), cruise control (ACC) and speed limiter (APT). The RSV4 1100 Factory also comes with three rider selectable modes – Track, Sport, Race. The rider can also change the engine maps while the bike is in motion.

In the mechanical department, the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory comes with an aluminium dual beam chassis that rides on 43mm  TiN (Titanium Nitride) coated Ohlins NIX forks with Smart EC 2.0 electronic control system on the front and a fully adjustable Ohlins TTX monoshock with Smart EC 2.0 electronically managed piggy-back. The stopping power comes from twin 330mm stainless steel floating discs and Brembo Stylema callipers on the front and 220 mm diameter disc with Brembo calliper on the rear. The braking system features Bosch 9.1 MP ABS with cornering function and rear-wheel lift-up mitigation (RLM) adjustable to three maps.

While the brand did not make any announcements, the RSV4 1100 Factory is for sale in India for a price of INR 22.4 lakh ex-showroom for a limited time period available only before 1st April 2020 as the motorcycle does not comply with the upcoming BS6 emission standards.
