Aprilia RS660 gets 2 new Akrapovic exhaust systems for street & track use

Slovenian performance exhaust manufacturer Akrapovic has introduced two new exhaust models for the new Aprilia RS660 supersport. One of the two exhaust systems is a racing line and another a street-legal plug and play type which does not require special engine mapping to run smoothly and deliver optimum performance.

The street-legal exhaust system is called the S-A6R2-HAPC and the exhaust system meets EC/ECE type approval, making it fully Euro 5 compliant. The street-legal system incorporates the catalytic converter in the front part of the exhaust ensuring full compliance with the regulation. The exhaust system has been constructed from race-proven materials such as carbon fibre, lightweight titanium, and high-grade stainless steel to ensure strength with weight saving.

The exhaust system is 0.4 kg lighter than standard and also gives the motorcycle the race bike looks. Apart from the looks the exhaust system also enhances the performance and the in-house dyno claims an increase of 2.4 Hp at 11,200 RPM and a gain of 3.6 Nm of torque at 4,550 RPM. The new exhaust system not only improves the power and throttle response but also delivers great aural experience.

The other exhaust system from Akrapovic is the S-A6R1-APLC which is designed to be used on the race track and comes in Racing Line Carbon finish. The racing tuned exhaust system offers a 2.4 kg reduction in weight, 4 Hp of increase in power and 4.9 Nm increase in peak torque. The track-oriented exhaust system is also made from race-proven materials of the highest quality and offer a balance between price and performance.

It is important to note that the dyno-test figures are from Akrapovic, but according to Aprilia the RS660 is powered by a Euro5 compliant 659cc liquid-cooled forward-facing parallel twin-cylinder, four-stroke engine with water-oil radiator and heat exchanger that belts out 100 Hp of power and 67 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox with Bi-Directional Aprilia Quick Shift (AQS) and a mechanical slipper & assist clutch.
