The Aprilia RS440 has once again been spotted testing on Indian roads. The sports bike was spotted near Pune. This time however, the close up images reveal a few additional details of the bike.
The RS440 draws inspiration from the larger RS660. Thus, it borrows styling cues like an aggressive front end, sharp design and a split LED headlamp. We can also see that the bike’s side panels come with a similar sharp design with multiple creases. The exhaust is hidden under the bike. The under belly exhaust is unlike the upswept side exhaust like traditional bikes.
Other hardware elements of the RS440 could include upside down front forks, a rear mono shock and single discs at both ends. The stopping power is complemented by dual-channel ABS. The bike gets 17-inch alloys on both ends with road-biased rubber.
Aprilia could also offer features like a digital TFT screen with phone connectivity and navigation amongst others.
Aprilia is likely to offer a 440cc parallel-twin engine on the RS440. This unit will be liquid-cooled and could offer a power output of 48 BHP. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed gearbox and a chain drive. The top speed could be claimed to be 180 km/h.
The Aprilia RS440 appears to be in a production-ready guise. This means, we can expect the bike maker to announce its launch and delivery schedule sometime later this year. The RS440 will head against the likes of the KTM RC 390, Yamah R3 and the Kawasaki Ninja 300. The Aprilia RS 440 will roll out of India at Piaggio’s plant in Baramati, outside Pune. This could ensure a competitive pricing and better supply chain for the customers.
